What is a head boat?
A head boat is a boat that stops and anchors over wreck & rock formations and everybody fishes at once. There could be as many as 70 to 80 passengers on the boat with you. The boat is not always that crowded. Head boats usually fish for such species as Red Snapper, Grouper, Trigger Fish, Amberjack,. You purchase an individual ticket for each person in your group.
What time do the boats depart?
The full day trip departs at 6:00am and returns at 5:00 pm.
The Half Day trip departs at 7:00 am and returns at 2:00 pm
The Shark fishing departs at 7:00 pm and returns at 11:00 pm
What time should I be at the boat prior to departure?
At least 30 minutes prior.
Do the boats go out all year round?
Yes. Call for Sailing Dates!
What kind of fish are the head boats fishing for and is there a certain season for certain fish?
The type of fish that are caught are Red Snapper, Grouper, Trigger Fish, Amberjack, Sea Bass. These fish do not migrate so they can be caught year round.
Is there a difference in the fish that I will be able to catch on a half day trip and the full day trip?
Yes! On the full day trip you go further out you get more fish time so that means more fish, and more varieties of fish.
What is the difference between your 24 hr. and a shorter trip that I could take?
The biggest difference is that on a shorter trip or you can only catch a one days bag limit per person. If you stay at least the 24 hr trip you can possess 2 day bag limit. (That’s a lot of fish )
What is included in the price of a ticket?
Everything is included: bait, tackle, rod & reel, and a place to keep your fish while you are on the boat.
What is not included?
Food & Beverages, ( you can purchase these in our galley) and Tips for mates ( customary to leave 10 to 20 % price of ticket).
What kind of equipment do you use?
Reels: 4/0 to 6/0 reels
Hooks: 2/0 to 5/0
Line: 40 to 80 lb test line
